There isn't much more to say about this unit except that it's brilliant, especially for the price. Since this is a review though here's a list of pros and cons:
pros:
The price is fantastic for such a featured unit
The build and form factor reflect the clever engineering of the internals
The sound as rich and accurate as units twice or thrice the price
My headphones even sound better (be aware that a standard 3.5mm headphone plug is too small, you'll need an adapter)

I didn't get it sooner
I bought some Sony SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers to go with this unit along with some 16 gauge cable to connect to my desktop, and everybody around me noticed just how well they all work together. I'd surmise that the Pta2 is the main reason for that (though Sony deserves props for the quality of those pretty cheap speakers). I highly recommend this for those just getting started fiddling in the realm of audiophilia.

I ordered this item to act as an amplifier for a Logitech Squeezebox Wi-Fi Internet Radio and a set of Cambridge SoundWorks 100W speakers. The equipment is in a 75'x25' family room/kitchen. When the SqueezeBox's line out "volume" is set at full output I hear a bit of clipping with the PTA2's volume set above about 80%. The clipping is only noticeable if you listen for it. At 80% volume it requires a raised voice to conduct a conversation in the room.
Is this an audiophile quality amplifier? No. It is however a good quality 40W amplifier for a pretty good price. I would purchase the next higher power (75W) amplifier from Pyle if I wanted to produce sound louder than background music or for a room much larger than 75'x25'. I will certainly consider Pyle's PTA/PCA line of amplifiers in the future for similar uses.

I was going to buy a used amp in a second hand shop and then I searched the internet and found this amazing little amp. Unlike another review I have read here on Amazon, this amp does not distort... It really kicks ass. It is small and yet has a significant weight, which shows that it is not just an empty box with not much in it. It is ruggedly built and drives a pair of JBLs beautifully.
So good in fact that I have mixed and mastered an album using this amp ([...] - A Series of Events by Buried Head).
I am a professional musician and know about sound quality. For the money, this amp rocks! It brings a smile to my face every time I switch it on.

I bought this amplifier to hook up my speakers that are outdoors, on our patio. Favorite attribute is the three different inputs. I set up the amp's (AUX1) input to my DVR on my DIRECTV system. The music stations sound well for being a two small outdoor speakers setup. The second input (Aux 2). I have a cable that I can hook up a iPod/mp3 player, this works well too as friends come over with their mp3 players and can hook right up. The third input (CD) is for the CD player, but I haven't hook that up yet. The balance feature seems redundant, I suppose you could hook up more than two speakers (as shown in the Owner's Manual). Adding this amp freed up my Audio Receiver's "b" channel and I like the fact the outdoor speakers are now isolated from my main audio system.

This item works as expected. It has a small foot print so it can be put out of the way. I baught this amp because my LG tv has terrible speakers and I did not have room for a full sound system. The only negative is lack of a remote but this is not a big problem. The sound quality is only as good as the speakers and with decent speakers this system sounds very good.
